Of course, the most difficult thing about building a fireplace is the actual building part. If you have never done a major construction job on your home before, the first time can be rather intimidating. If you are just fixing your bike, say, and you make a mistake, it is easy to go back and redo anything that you might need to. If you are building a fireplace, It can be much more of a problem.
