Natural Gas Fireplaces Warmth Without The Mess

Do you enjoy a nice toasty fireplace? Hey, who the heck doesn’t? In reality most of us love to relax by a nice cozy fire even if we don’t like the winter time. Yeah you may hate the snow outside, but I bet you like those crackling flames. These days the question arises concerning which fireplace is the best or most efficient. Do you prefer natural gas fireplaces or the more classic wood-burning fireplaces? It’s all a personal preference thing if you ask me. I am one of the few I know that actually prefers the real wood fire over the contemporary natural gas fireplaces. However, you may not agree.

What are the benefits of natural gas fireplaces? This is where it all begins. I think when you’re trying to decide between two things, you should always write down the pros and the cons. Well, with natural gas fireplaces you don’t have any clean-up. This is always awesome and quite handy. We all know that with wood-burning fires, you will always have the ashes to deal with. That’s no surprise. However, with traditional wood-burning fireplaces you can roast hot dogs and marshmallows. We absolutely love that in my house. What beats a smores on a cold winter night. Unfortunately natural gas fireplaces cannot provide this option. Then there is the cost of it all. Which costs more; wood or natural gas? This may depend on your area. Although I typically hear that wood is less expensive, I would check into this before making any rash conclusions. Where I live you can purchase a cord of firewood for around 125 bucks. Now, this is all I use in the fall and winter put together. However, you should remember that I am not heating my home with a fireplace only. To do this would probably take three times this much. Finally there is the simplicity of it all. With natural gas fireplaces all you have to do is walk in the room and flip a switch. I think this is the main thing many people enjoy. Me on the other hand, I love building a fire each time. This is probably linked back to my childhood. It’s something I always did with my father. Therefore it has a certain nostalgic quality to it.
